The Limited Edition KIT KAT White was so popular, they were running out fast. The challenge for JWT, Sydney was to make the love for the product outlast the product itself, to promote talkability of the brand. We created The Final Fifty: 50 unique pieces of poster art made from the last 50 bars off the production line. Each one was hand crafted by renowned illustrator Mike Watt, who turned the melted chocolate from the final bars into preserved timeless works of art that were showcased online and in an exhibition. The bushfires across Australia have cast a shadow on what should be the most festive time of year. To show the human cost of this devastation, but importantly hope for the resilience and recovery of our communities, a burnt Christmas tree has been built in Sydney’s CBD. Designed by Scoundrel’s James Dive, the tree was crafted entirely with logs, branches and shrubs sourced from bushfire-affected areas of New South Wales. The tree is also decorated with burnt objects like a farm gate and bicycle and is topped with a star fashioned from a burnt-out bike wheel. These objects exist alongside signs of regeneration, including banksia seeds which require fire to sprout. To celebrate the 65th festival, McCann and MIFF called on film fans through social media to share memories of films that stayed with them from the many years of MIFF. Based on MIFF member Keith Gove’s memory of the Takashi Miike thriller Audition, the chosen scene was directed, styled, and edited to recreate the memory that lives on in Gove’s mind since he watched the film at MIFF, once, back in 2000.
