In 2017, fentanyl claimed the lives of over 1400 people in B.C. In 2018, 81% of overdose deaths involved fentanyl. It’s becoming more and more evident that this is not just an issue that effects heavy drug users, with traces of fentanyl being found in drugs popular amongst teenagers like Molly, Cocaine, and counterfeit prescription drugs, like Xanax. The Vancouver Police Department partnered with TAXI Vancouver to create a fentanyl awareness campaign to show teens that they’re gambling with their lives when they take drugs. ‘Flirting With Death’ came from the insight that there is no way to know what’s in the drugs they’re taking, regardless of how invincible they think they are. What do you say when someone asks if you want kids and you’re not sure you’ll live long enough to live that dream? Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder with no cure. The life expectancy is about 53 years old but many born with CF die sooner or face life-long complications that not only inhibit everyday living, but also make the things we all strive for in life difficult or impossible to achieve. Although people with cystic fibrosis live with so many uncertainties today, donations will help fund important research that brings hope and helps provide answers in a cure. The ACE Climatic Wind Tunnel brought together physiology and aerodynamics experts from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology to help Angelo Grubisic break a wingsuit world record. This record will see Angelo jump from 40,000ft with a flight time of over 10 minutes and a top speed exceeding 250mph. Research took place in the climatic wind tunnel and included tests using a newly designed free flight fixture and tests with wind chill temperatures dropping below -100°C. Luxury Italian car manufacturer, Maserati, has partnered with Toronto-based agency LP/AD for its latest local campaign ‘The Grand Tourists’. The digital content series being broadcast on IGTV comes as the car-maker widens communications to focus more on dealer-focused activities. Centred on ‘An Italian story. A global icon.’, the campaign shows the long-distance and unique possibilities of experiencing new places with Maserati. ‘The Grand Tourists’ sees travel bloggers take the Levante S on a ‘global’ road trip to Ontario’s namesake destinations of some of the world’s most famous and iconic cities. The tongue-in-cheek vision plays on the Canadian province being home to over 20 locations all named after famous cities from across the world. Promoting the driving dynamics of a gran turismo sport car embedded into Maserati’s new SUV, social influencers take the car on a grand tour of the world across Ontario. Creatively devised by LP/AD, the campaign comprises of a series of social assets rolled out across IGTV. The series showcases Maserati’s legendary sensorial driving experience with its new SUV model, designed for a unique on-road drivability with competitive off-road capabilities and leading comfort. The campaign comes as the luxury car brand continues its history of innovations in lifestyle marketing by targeting a younger, digital-forward demographic. Specializing in brand development, LP/AD harnessed Maserati’s global icon status whilst nurturing a local Canadian presence to capture the imagination of an urban audience utilizing digital avenues. As our research showed that gamers did not trust Ubisoft’s traditional trailers, no matter how good they looked, we went with a different approach and designed an experience that would inspire gamers to create shareable, social, snackable pieces of content. Assassin’s Creed Origins claims to be the most accurate reproduction of ancient Egypt ever made. With its wonders of ancient civilization, Egypt has always been a favourite of tourists. So we thought that if this game is as close to reality as it claims, why not let people visit it as tourists? We launched ExploreAncientEgypt.com, a website where gamers could book immersive guided tours within the actual game build. There they could explore never-before-seen regions of the game map and bring back digital memories in the form of Instagram and Facebook-like stories that they could customize and share everywhere on their social platforms—just as any excited tourist would. In the Spring of 2018, we set out to track down and discover some of Canada’s more highly evolved specimens. An expedition led by a documentary film crew into the wilderness of British Columbia to locate and document how the Kia family of SUVs survive in such a diverse range of conditions found here in Canada. What they found was that the vehicles had evolved and formed many adaptations to combat the elements. What came of all the expeditions hard work and countless hours in unforgiving terrain?
