Climate change is making our oceans more acid, with the coastal areas bearing the majority of the impact, killing reefs and threatening ecosystems. Smartwax is a natural surf wax formula that reverses this acidification by simply asking surfers to modify their regular behavior. Every single surfer who uses the wax can neutralise up to 1.3m3 of water. And with over 35 million active surfers worldwide, they could rebalance over 1,000,000 swimming pools worth of acidic water each year. To launch the wax, special samples were created in the shape of US president, Donald Trump, and Brazil’s president, Jair Bolsonaro, two of the world’s most infamous climate change deniers. The new wax formula gave the million-strong global surfing community the opportunity to be part of the solution. Their response was so overwhelming that one month after the launch, 70% of the global market have asked for the formula, with 8 brands are already using it. And what started as a little drop in the ocean is getting bigger every day as Clean Ocean Foundation currently explores other materials to apply the additive that makes SmartWax, including sunscreen, hull sealants, life jackets, dive gear, anchors, jet skis and swimwear. In the hope that we save our oceans, one wave at a time. Experiential advertisement created by McCann, Australia for Clean Ocean Foundation Australia, within the category: Public Interest, NGO.

AHLEM was launched in 2014 by Parisian-born, Los Angeles-based designer Ahlem Manai-Platt, and its product line includes nine handmade eyewear frames in chic shapes all rendered in Italian Mazzucchelli acetate. Reminiscent of a French New Wave film and set in a quintessentially LA location, the film brings together the brand’s Parisian roots and West Coast influences. The story is a classic cat and mouse chase between a man and a woman. This time, though, the familiar game of love plays out through the lens of AHLEM. Looking to bring narrative and cinematic storytelling to the brand’s marketing, the inspiration for the film came from its location – a stunning hillside house designed by architect Michael Sant.

Raising funds and awareness for Charité’s Parkinson’s research, we produced an art collection created by the first machine affected by a human disease. The collection comprises distorted 3D prints of cherished objects belonging to Parkinson’s patients. The objects are informed by each patient’s tremor data, skewing the object’s shape to capture the impact of Parkinson’s. Major European cities like Stockholm are being invaded by electrical scooters. They have become immensely popular but are also creating debate and are currently a hot topic in the news. Some hate the scooters, but others love them. The main arguments for the scooters have been hard to argue against. Not only are they a fast and cheap alternative to cars, they are electric (sustainable) and contributes to less congestion on the roads. However fresh research in Sweden show that only 2 in 100 journeys actually replace cars. In almost all other cases the scooter replaces people walking. So, even though its still faster, is not cheaper or more sustainable. And, more importantly it contributes more people moving even less which in turn affects people’s health. And fresh statistics from the WHO shows that less and less people get enough exercise. Reebok – a brand that believes in the power of moving (that sports can change lives) – is now launching Reebok To Go, an alternative to the e-scooters, and the first rentable sneaker service ever. Why ride when you can use your feet? With Reebok-to-go there is no excuse. Reebok-To-Go works in a similar way to rental scooters. The shoes are equipped with a QR-Code you simply scan with your phone. Once you have entered your details, it’s just a case of putting them on and away you go. The soles of the shoes also have a GPS tag, so each pair can be tracked on a map. Reebok-To-Go is a reminder of the importance to get your daily exercise. If we can get more people to rediscover their feet through this initiative, that would be a step, well many steps, in the right direction.
