On 4th of August 2006, 17 aid workers from Action Contre la Faim were murdered in the offices of the NGO in Muttur, southeastern Sri Lanka, while violent fights were taking place in the city. Since 2006, Action Contre la Faim is fighting for the opening of an international investigation supervised by the United Nations. To finally shed light on the circumstances and on those who are guilty of this massacre. To make sure this crime doesnʼt remain unpunished. To raise awareness, the film presents a fictitious testimony. Without falling into the free violence pitfall, the film manages to express the terrible reality with astuteness and poetry. Symbolically playing with the white NGOʼs T-shirt and the victimsʼ blood shedded on it, the film tends to give a voice to the last witnesses of this horrible day of August 4th, 2006. The talent of the director Luis Nieto who mixes realism and metaphor makes this testimony visually both powerful and striking. Today is the last chance to finally open an international investigation. In their healing process, both physical and emotional, these children give an example of resilience and courage so that together, we can reduce devastating numbers.
The Challenge: Standard Chartered Bank wanted to promote their credit card benefits during the month of Ramadan. The Opportunity: Rather than feeding people the same old clichés, we cut through the clutter of Ramadan advertising by tapping into the social aspect of the season. We chose to engage – not advertise. The Idea: My Majlis is the world’s first game that brings the ‘Majlis’ or Ramadan tent experience to life. The game mirrors the real world ‘Majlis’ experience, bringing family and friends together virtually to relax and socialize. Fans create their own ‘Majlis’ or tent, purchase furniture, decorate and invite guests to visit, all using Standard Chartered credit cards. The most popular ‘Majlis’ rated by guests wins ‘Majlis’ experiences in real life. The Results: In just 4 weeks, more than 15,277 fans played My Majlis, on average spending over 7 minutes per visit playing the game. The most popular ‘Majlis’ (with an impressive 2,006 guests) took home the big Eid getaway weekend prize! Not only did consumers share a social experience that was relevant to them, they also learned about the benefits of Standard Chartered cards through gameplay. In just a few weeks, Standard Chartered went from being just another bank to becoming the most socially engaged bank in the United Arab Emirates, with clear product benefits. What do you get when you give a Shepherd a video camera, LED lights and a whole bunch of sheep? A sheeptastic experience as evidenced by the fun spot for Samsung directed by James Rouse with The Viral Factory. After all, it seems only fitting that shepherds who gave us the great game of golf, be the first ones to usher sheep herding into the digital art age. Rouse and The Viral Factory enlist an enthusiastic group of herders known as the Baaa-Studs to make the magic happen over the hills of walls. Some amazing sights are to behold as man, machine and beasts combine to re-create the Mona Lisa, the video game Pong and an electronic fireworks display worthy of any Fourth of July.
