The project enabled two Waskaganish natives to travel from Canada to Peru to teach residents of Lampa how to insulate their homes with animal hides. In return, residents of Lampa taught the people of Waskaganish how to add variety to their diet with quinoa, a native Peruvian food that is rich in nutrients. Special Olympics is a non-profit international organization that seeks the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities through sport. Operating in 175 countries, it impacts around 5 million athletes worldwide. As part of an NGO, each national delegation must seek for its own funding, and in the case of Colombia, this becomes even more difficult due to the lack of sponsors. In order to raise funds, so the country representatives could participate in the next Summer Games of The Special Olympics, McCann Colombia created a fundraising campaign that portrays the talent and hurdle overcoming of the athletes in a truly artistic way. Named “Road to Frame”, the campaign depicts the athletes’ training routines through motion capture technology, creating four artistic executions, which reproductions where sold in La Feria del Millón (The Million Fair), one of the most renown art fairs in Colombia. The Cities Project by Heineken helps bring to life projects that make great cities even greater. To kick off this year’s campaign and to provide insight into the types of projects it will support in 2017, Heineken is partnering with + POOL to help bring their idea – developing an Olympic-sized, water-filtering, floating swimming pool in New York’s river – closer to reality. To support the initiative, Heineken has also partnered with Tribeca Film Festival to raise awareness of the project and engage fans nationwide with a virtual reality documentary developed by Tribeca Studios. Heineken is rallying support for + POOL by asking fans to pledge to swim in the river once it’s created. If 100,000 pledges are registered at www.swimintheriver.com, Heineken will contribute $100,000 to the project.
