Many of us carry lucky charms with us as they make us feel positive during crucial moments such as job interviews, big games or even on our wedding day. So we ask people on social media to share their lucky charms with us and then create a Museum of Optimism. Inside, visitors find Sonnet mentioned as a lucky charm too. Through this initiative, we don't just celebrate people’s optimism but show how Sonnet can be their lucky charm during life’s big moments. Launched on the World Oceans Day to create awareness that 80% of Thai ocean garbage comes from urban use and it’s still possible to make a change by recycling it. The idea of this video is to use the Ocean’s voice as the narrator because the ocean itself is dying slowly and painfully but no one seems to care. This is to remind people that the ocean is just like us, if you don’t take care of it, it could die one day too. Director Caleb Femi infuses Mulberry’s Christmas commercial with a newfound poetic relevance, capturing the mood and madness of the season and invites audiences to share in The Season of Light. Third Channel were thrilled to play their part in the creation of a short festive film for international clothing and handbag brand Mulberry. The latest festive cinema campaign, focuses on Christmas as The Season of Light. Third Channel worked with the team at Mulberry and director Caleb Femi, who was the inaugural poet laureate for London. Femi, well known for giving a nuanced perspective on Black British London life, challenging the often misunderstood environment of his youth, makes a departure from his more overtly autobiographical work. Femi holds onto his artistic voice in this Christmas ad. His morals and his experiences are central to its mood and tone giving way to a film rooted in empathy, compassion and the spirit of Christmas. The film embodies the spirit of this year’s Mulberry Lights campaign and uses a light installation and community togetherness to drive home Mulberry’s brand values. The relationship between light and darkness is a recurring theme in Femi’s work. Using prose and poetry to build a style filled with surreal and dreamlike elements. Often using it to deconstruct stereotypes about working class and Black London youth. Driving positivity through his work referencing light and optimism as visual and spiritual signifiers. Mulberry is ‘bussing a whine & a two step’ into the holiday season, with Femi himself playing a starring role in a turn on traditional Santa Claus – the gift giving man in red with a Mulberry makeover. Embodying the spirit of giving while driving home a focus on family, warmth and togetherness. His style is a unique cross between a swagger filled Artful Dodger type, and a high-fashion streetwear hype-beast. “We have always really loved Mulberry’s Christmas campaigns especially the comedy campaigns of the last few years, so we were so excited to work with Caleb on producing yet another original interpretation of the traditional Christmas advert.” Dorothea Gibbs, Executive producer at Third Channel With an original Christmas soundtrack by Rui da Silva, of classic early noughties club track “Touch Me” fame, and sound design from Dario Swade, the film creates a cosy reminder of the importance of giving. Three interesting points of the campaign! “Small but Big” When we think about plastic wastes, we usually think of items such as plastic bottles, plastic straws, plastic bags, etc. However, contact lenses are causing serious ocean pollution, even though they are smaller than other plastic waste. Moreover, in our daily lives, people were habitually throwing their contact lenses down the drain while using the bathroom. Therefore, we focused on recognizing people that this trivial habit can also pollute the ocean. “Nudge Idea” We didn’t just say “don’t use contact lenses!” or “you must throw away used lenses into the trash can!” Instead, we tried to induce people to throw used lenses into the trash can naturally. Therefore, we utilized the lens box (used for containing contact lenses) which people usually throw into the trash can. “Lottery X contact lens brand” To promote people’s participation in the campaign, we used the lottery’s procedure to award people prize money which will be used for environmental contribution under their names. Because people helped to protect nature, after participating campaign they can feel proud of themselves. A few days ago, Diesel secretly opened an authentic knock-off store called Deisel on Canal Street, very far from Fifth Avenue or the other fashion landmarks, and right in the heart of New York City’s most famed fake-fashion destination. The unsuspecting shoppers probably did not realize then, but the items they bought at the Deisel store were actually one-of-a kind pieces specially crafted by Diesel design team disguised with fake Deisel branding. Those lucky shoppers took home some rare pieces, very likely to become collector’s items. Operating in the original style of its Canal Street neighbors, the store’s interiors and selling experience played out authentically, and the whole experiment was caught in a video that celebrates those who are brave enough to venture off the beaten path to find their own unique style. The Sound Brewery is a conceptual machine for generating music from the ingredients used in the Nastro Azzurro brewing process. Water, Hops, Barley and Corn were manipulated in a unique method to create an audio looping system based on organic input. Water was piped through 8 km of tubing and 1800 custom valves to create a water based touchscreen. The DJ’s finger movement was tracked using Leap Motion, this information was used to control 2 custom designed turntables. The turntables consisted of Interchangeable vinyl-style palettes, these were held in place by neodymium magnets that were attached to custom designed speakers on a rotating mechanism. Audio was generated by interpreting data from a high-spec laser (accurate to 0.001mm) that was used to read the characteristics of the ingredients. The DJ manipulated the sound by: moving and changing the ingredients, changing the rotation speed of the turntables and adjusting the position of the laser arm. The solid ingredients were placed on a specially designed Chladni-style plate that was developed for the machine, namely a circle in favour of the common square design. The corn, hops and barleys contour and arrangement generated the drum track and synth lines as they interacted with the laser and DJ. Water was poured onto flat pressed vinyl palettes, creating a liquid record. Audio frequencies were fed into the rotating liquid records to generate a unique visual and audio effect from the surface of the liquid. A four track EP has been released from Awhyl, the young producers’ crew involved in the project.
