Who can understand the myriad hues of black better than a person who's lived in darkness since he was 6 months old? To introduce its All-Black fabric collection, Raymond came out with a film which is an intriguing yet poetic ode to black fabric. We realize towards the end of the film that the ode is delivered by a blind poet - it is his interpretation of black. It has slick fashion colliding with a narrative that’s just as intriguing as it is lyrical. The narrative has a consistent progression, building human attributes into the color black and leading up to a striking touch of authenticity in the end - The film features Jugpreet Bajwa, an Indo-Canadian singer and writer who’s visually impaired. Film advertisement created by Grey, India for Raymond, within the category: Retail Services.
Leo Burnett Lisbon created the “The exhibition that shouldn’t exist” campaign for Control Arms - a worldwide coalition fighting to approve the Arms Trade Treaty later this month. The exhibition is a collection of paintings designed to look like abstract artworks in a first sight. But then, when people read their placards, they realize they’re actually in front of gunshots stories. Through a QR code on each placard, people can see the ballistics test that simulated the related story on the painting. “The Exhibition that shouldn’t exist” portrays the reality of the irresponsible arms trade around the world, turning visible a violent truth that many don’t see. The paintings will be displayed in the Electricity Museum in Lisbon and then sent to Control Arms in NY. They will show them in their opening press briefing, held at the UN Secretariat. The exhibition also has an online version, where people can have the same experience with the paintings and their videos. Kids learn things even when they’re not taught them. Television and the expectations of the adults around them shape their outlooks, often with unintended consequences. In Belgium, school network Samen Onderwijs Maken asked kids to take part in an experiment with unsettling results. Directed to pick a colored pencil to use to fill in “skin color” on a drawing of a person, every child picked the light pink shade. Even kids with skin tones much better matched by other pencils in the box picked pink. So SOM and TBWA Belgium created a box of pencils with seven different shades—The Skin Color Collection—to redefine what kids think of as the right color for skin.
