The spot is part of a larger brand campaign for the Dutch Railways, and is aimed to champion the freedom of public transport. The Dutch railways are the most heavily used railway network in Europe and part of an extremely efficient, fast and comfortable network of public transport that includes buses, trams, rental bikes and a wide range of other modes of transportation. As traffic around major cities continued to congest over the last decades, the Dutch invested heavily in connecting different modes of public transport. And with great success; public transport in the Netherlands offers a hassle-free alternative for people to go anywhere they want. With a new brand campaign, the Dutch Railways aims to champion this freedom of mobility. Created by N=5, the campaign means to inspire travelers and prove that public transport can take you anywhere you want. In the campaign’s main TV spot, we follow two girls’ separate journey. As one girl’s plans change, we see them constantly bumping into each other, only to eventually meet each other in a romantic twist of events. The spot is musically supported by Aretha Franklin’s A Natural Woman. As part of the new campaign, the Dutch Railways will also introduce a special public transport subscription (NS Flex) that offers a variety of options and which can be changed on the go, further supporting it’s promise of giving more freedom to travelers. Shot purely by Booking.com employees using Go Pro cameras, One Mission offers a glimpse into Booking.com’s unique, fun and inspiring culture and has already notched up approximately 4 million views. Co-created by Dutch creative studio Cloudfactory and Booking.com, the campaign originated in 2016 with Booking.com encouraging its 14,000 global employees with a mission to document their year of travel. The result puts the brand’s diverse and passionate employees centre stage as they travelled to over 190 countries on personal holidays, and empowers the viewer to get out and experience what the world has to offer. To surprise their customers the agency came up with a rocket that can be launched from a safe distance via an app. The mechanism is in the base. This starts the rocket and works via an app, coupled to Twitter. By sending a New Year’s tweet the rocket will be activated and launched within ten seconds. To jump start the development of the future generation of creatives, the four leading independent Dutch advertising agencies Achtung!, Dawn, Natwerk, and Sue decided to set up the first real traineeship program in the Netherlands: Uncommon. It is the first program of its kind with the clear aim to develop high-calibre advertising talent with experience across a wide range of disciplines. The challenges brands face nowadays can’t to be solved with creative communications alone. The depth of solutions that are expected from agencies need a new breed of creatives. They require digital natives who understand brands, storytellers who embrace innovation, strategists who are creative, and creatives who approach challenges with a start-up mentality.
