In assuring us that ‘History Will Be Made’, the BBC’s 2018 campaign provides a timely reminder of football’s greatest tournament and why we love it. The campaign, created by BBC Creative with BBC Sport Marketing and animated by Blinkink, journeys through World Cup history via the skill of Diego Maradona, the flair of Zinedine Zidane and the emotion of Paul Gascoigne, to a preview of the most exciting talents of this year’s finals including Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Harry Kane. Animated launch film The Tapestry, directed by Nicos Livesey, takes us on a journey through iconic moments from the competition’s illustrious past, and introduces us to the faces that will surely create memories this time around. The team have modernized the traditional tapestry technique by creating a dynamic film in which every single frame has been individually embroidered. More than 227,000 metres of thread were used to create over 600 unique frames of tapestry, that if laid end-to-end would measure over 1,200 metres in length. Desperados reached new levels of wild experimentation by welcoming partygoers and all their party ideas under one roof, to create the world’s largest crowdsourced party. Partnering with party legends Elrow and dance music pioneer, Skream, Desperados transformed Magazine, one of London’s newest venues, into the most welcoming house party and turned people’s wild party ideas into a reality.To enter the party, 3,000 guests walked over a giant welcome mat made of unwelcoming newspaper clippings, giving them an opportunity to leave the noise of the outside world at the door as they entered the space. Partygoers then got to experience party ideas crowdsourced from across the world, including: Friendly granny security, custom-built haptic jackets so partygoers of all hearing abilities could feel the music, and an octobar to serve eight drinks at a time.

Rovio Entertainment and YouTube announced their partnership to seamlessly integrate The Slow Mo Guys YouTube stars into RETRY. Retry is a tribute to the challenging old school games of the 8-bit era. In RETRY the players pilot their planes through side-scrolling levels in a world where the gameplay, music and art are a homage to the 80s. With The Slow Mo Guys partnership, Rovio leads the way in new native mobile media formats where the brand integration is part of the game and enhances the player experience. Gamers will be able to progress in the game through branded The Slow Mo Guys content that is seamlessly integrated to the game.
