To the delight of fashion experts and fans, Agencia Africa has created the ‘Surprise Collection’ for Ariel, featuring stained clothes which reveal their original prints only when washed. Prominent Brazilian fashion bloggers from the F*Hits blog network received a set of stained clothes, an Ariel sample and instructions on how to discover the hidden prints. The blogs covered the story, featuring ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures which revealed the full impact of UQBAR’s designs. In addition, the washed outfits were displayed on the catwalk at the São Paulo Fashion Week 2013. Due to huge media and consumer interest, Ariel’s ‘Surprise Collection’ has been made available in stores across Brazil. You get up from bed. You look out from the window and ta-da! There it is. The company car. It’s waiting for you, “let’s roll together!” it says. At that moment, “El Bimbo” starts to play in your head. The campaign for the fleet leasing company, Hedef Filo consists of four TVCs. It shows us the misery of waking up early and going to work, the stress of a job interview, the tiredness from working all day, and the tension that arises from being stranded on the road while going to a very important meeting. And in these stressful moments, seeing the company car on a platform revolving in all its beauty with “El Bimbo” playing in the head, it lightens the mood. Our research showed 71% of people weren’t exactly sure what they were covered for after they bought insurance. Meet ‘Nagging Doubt’. He’s the physical embodiment of our insurance worries – that little niggle at the back of our minds – and the ‘anti-hero’ in these ads for Swinton Insurance. He appears at the very moment in our adverts when people start to question their insurance, and is then ‘removed’ in a number of unconventional scenarios. Alongside the strapline ‘Turn Nagging Doubt into nothing-to-worry about’, the character showcases Swinton’s ability to put the nation’s minds at ease, so customers feel more confident about their insurance decisions. The Sound Brewery is a conceptual machine for generating music from the ingredients used in the Nastro Azzurro brewing process. Water, Hops, Barley and Corn were manipulated in a unique method to create an audio looping system based on organic input. Water was piped through 8 km of tubing and 1800 custom valves to create a water based touchscreen. The DJ’s finger movement was tracked using Leap Motion, this information was used to control 2 custom designed turntables. The turntables consisted of Interchangeable vinyl-style palettes, these were held in place by neodymium magnets that were attached to custom designed speakers on a rotating mechanism. Audio was generated by interpreting data from a high-spec laser (accurate to 0.001mm) that was used to read the characteristics of the ingredients. The DJ manipulated the sound by: moving and changing the ingredients, changing the rotation speed of the turntables and adjusting the position of the laser arm. The solid ingredients were placed on a specially designed Chladni-style plate that was developed for the machine, namely a circle in favour of the common square design. The corn, hops and barleys contour and arrangement generated the drum track and synth lines as they interacted with the laser and DJ. Water was poured onto flat pressed vinyl palettes, creating a liquid record. Audio frequencies were fed into the rotating liquid records to generate a unique visual and audio effect from the surface of the liquid. A four track EP has been released from Awhyl, the young producers’ crew involved in the project.
